FROM PHOTOGRAPH TO DOORSTEP
Most commissions are completed and delivered within 6–10 weeks. Here's what happens at each stage.
We review your photograph and enquiry, then reach out within 1–2 business days with a personalised design brief — confirming the composition, metal choice, and any engraving details.
Our sculptor produces a detailed sketch or small maquette (scale model) for your approval. We refine until you're completely happy before any metal is touched.
The approved design is hand-sculpted in fine wax or clay. This is the most time-intensive stage — the relief is built up layer by layer to capture every detail of your subject.
The sculpture is cast in your chosen metal using the lost-wax process. After casting, the piece is hand-finished, polished, and patinated to the agreed specification.
Every piece is inspected under magnification before dispatch. We photograph your finished medallion and send you a preview image before it's packaged.
Your medallion is packaged in our presentation box and dispatched with full tracking and insurance. Delivery times vary by location — see the table below.

Delivery times are estimates and may vary during peak periods (Christmas, Easter, school holidays). If you have a firm deadline, please mention it in your commission enquiry and we will advise accordingly. Express delivery is available at checkout for an additional fee.
HOW WE PACK YOUR PIECE
We believe the moment of opening should feel as special as the piece inside. Every order is packed by hand in our studio — no assembly lines, no shortcuts.
Your medallion is first wrapped in archival-quality acid-free tissue paper, protecting the metal surface from contact and micro-abrasion during transit.
The wrapped piece is placed in a hand-stitched velvet pouch in deep charcoal — the same pouch we recommend for long-term storage.
The pouch sits inside our rigid matte-black gift box, debossed with the Ashbourne & Vale mark. A care card matched to your metal is included inside.
The gift box is cushioned inside a plain outer carton with recycled paper fill — no branding on the outside for discreet delivery.
Every order is dispatched with full tracking and is covered by transit insurance up to the declared value of the piece.
Our outer cartons use 100% recycled cardboard. The velvet pouch and tissue wrap are reusable for long-term storage of your piece.

Because every piece is made to order, we don't accept change-of-mind returns. However, if your piece arrives with a defect or damage, we will make it right — always.
